What We Do

Insurance TechKNOWLEDGEy, LLC has automated the insurance coverage verification process through a patent and patent-pending software. The systems allow both insurance company officials and their policyholders to monitor the validity of Workers’ Compensation coverage for subcontractors working for policyholders in near real-time.

THE PROBLEM: The insurance industry has relied heavily on Certificates of Insurance as a reliable method to “certify” insurance coverage leaving most stakeholders vulnerable. This concerns most stakeholders when coverage for a subcontractor lapses as this leaves the higher tier contractor and their insurance carrier responsible for injuries of the subcontractor as well as premium leakage.

THE SOLUTION: Insurance TechKNOWLEDGEy has created two products that work together; AuditorPortal (AP) and Insurance Verification Exchange (IVE). These programs notify authorized parties when a subcontractor lapses their Worker’s Compensation policy. This software-as-a-service is highly accurate since the data that feeds the program comes directly from the state. It is a policyholder service because it sends a text message and email alerting the designated person that there is a lapsed policy. This revolutionary audit technology populates an audit report to reveal coverage or gaps in coverage to make it easier for the auditor. The auditor no longer has to sift through stacks of Certificates or wait on Certificates of Insurance and then still have no way of knowing if there are lapses within the Certificates.

Derek Wirz, Partner

Derek Wirz is a Commercial Insurance Producer. Derek is passionate about educating his policyholders how to manage risk in the most cost effective way and keeping workers safe. Through his 30+ years in the business, he has created a system of managing Workers Compensation exposures for his clients which led him to author a textbook on the subject.

While completing the book, the Tennessee Governor, Bill Haslam commissioned a report by Work Comp Strategies that simply stated, along with many other topics, that Workers Compensation cannot be improved until all stakeholders become educated. The report inspired him to design the book on how to properly administer the Workers Compensation policy and obligation for the Tennessee employer.

He believes that billions of dollars are spent each year across the country in unnecessary premiums, claims and expenses because time was not spent to educate each stakeholder, especially the employer on a State-Specific Basis.

Derek graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a B.S. in Business, has served as the President of the Professional Insurance Agents of Tennessee headquartered in Brentwood, TN and has served as a Trustee of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents headquartered in Alexandria, VA. He has received five professional designations, including the Certified Insurance Counselor and the Certified Workers Compensation Professional. He has served on various producer councils for Workers Compensation carriers and owns a software company that serves the Workers Compensation insurance industry.  He holds a patent in a specific electronic process that serves both policyholders and insurance carriers as well.  He and his wife, Tracey have two children, Jake and Madie, and live in Ooltewah, Tennessee.
